We still utilize the follicular unit approach to the restoration process but instead of removing a whole strip we transplant one individual follicular unit at a time. The instrumentation we use is so small so that the donor area is left with a tiny almost invisible mark.  The great benefit of this approach is it allows the patient the flexibility to have a very short hairstyle or even to shave the donor area (in some patients).

Although follicular unit extraction is a great surgery, not all patients are good candidates for it. During the consultation this option is explored in depth where the pros and cons of this type of surgery versus the strip surgery are discussed.
