The
Harmony module for fractional ablative skin resurfacing
Alma Laser's Pixel
2940nm Er:YAG Module is an FDA-approved fractional
ablative skin resurfacing laser that represents a new
option to perform skin resurfacing on aged and
photo-damaged skin: it's a safe and effective treatment
with no patient downtime, and no gel or
consumables required. Plus, since it's a part of the
Harmony multi-application, multi-technology platform, it's
an affordable and easy upgrade to keep your practice
absolutely current with the latest technology.
Fractional ablative lasers from Alma Lasers
Alma Lasers' fractional
ablative laser, the Pixel 2940, represents the best of
both worlds for skin resurfacing: it combines the proven
effectiveness of an ablative approach with the patient
comfort level and convenience of a non-ablative approach.
The Pixel 2940 nm Er:YAG module delivers
results on par with ablative lasers, but it eliminates
possible side effects of ablative treatments such as hypo-
or hyper-pigmentation, post-operative infection, swelling,
erythema or edema. In addition, the Pixel 2940 can be used
on the face, neck, chest, arms and hands-a much wider
scope than the traditional ablative technologies.
Why Pixel 2940 for fractional ablative skin
resurfacing?
The Pixel
2940nm Er:YAG Module provides the right Pixel wavelength for
the right clinical indication. It is a safe and effective
treatment for fractional ablative skin resurfacing on the
face, neck, chest, arms and hands. Designed to treat aged and
photo-damaged skin, the Pixel 2940 improves the quality and
texture of the dermis while it stimulates collagen
regeneration. Recommended applications include:
Skin resurfacing
Laser peeling
Rhytids and fine lines
Skin resurfacing with the
Pixel 2940 is a gradual process that happens over several
treatments. Treatments are fast, thanks to the large spot size
and high 2 Hz repetition rate. Easy to use, the Pixel 2940 can
help you give your patients lasting results with no downtime
or side effects--without the mess and expense of blue dye, gel
or consumables.
Because re-epithelialization
occurs quite quickly in the treatment zone, the risk of
infection is reduced significantly from previous conventional
treatment methods.
How Pixel works
A preprogrammed laser beam
passes through the patented PIXEL micro optics lens and
penetrates the skin. It creates an ablative and thermal effect
at the pixel area-a micro-injury-without disturbing the
surrounding tissue. Those micro-injured areas start the
process of healing as collagen remodels, skin tightens and the
skin texture improves.
With the Pixel 2940, the
ablation zone is 11 x 11 mm in size, with a penetration
depth of 20-50 microns. The module operator can decide
between 49 to 81 pixels, with the size of the ablation
dots for each 11 x 11 mm spot set at either 7x7 pixels or
9x9 pixels. In the 49 pattern (7 x 7mm), the energy is
split between fewer pixels, so each pixel receives more
energy and the depth of penetration is higher.
The patient experience with the Pixel 2940
Patients
will find the skin around the treatment area feeling firmer
and tighter, with a smoother surface texture. They will not
need analgesics or pain medication with the Pixel 2940, and
they can return to work immediately after treatment.

As a
physician, the safety and quality of patient results with
Pixel 2940 is very important. The economics of Pixel, however,
is also something to consider. There is a financial
cost-savings to the Pixel module on Harmony:
If you already own Harmony, it is easy to
add the Pixel 2940 module as an upgrade to your current
system.
If you have not yet invested in the
Harmony platform, starting with Pixel 2940 on Harmony is a
great way to get the latest technology at an affordable
level, while you maximize your potential for future growth.
You'll save
time and money over a standalone fractional ablative laser for
skin resurfacing, because you'll be able to add and upgrade
modules quickly, as technology improves and your practice
expands. Because the platform stays consistent across
applications, you and your staff will need less training, need
less space for equipment, and can rely on a single
manufacturer that knows your individual needs and your
practice.

Vessel Treatment
Facial blood vessels or “telangiectasias” are very common. They
are created by a dilation of tiny blood vessels on the face. They
are found in the folds of the nose, on the rim of the nostrils,
and on the cheeks. Telangiectasias are often associated with
chronic sun exposure, as well as with rosacea. Rosacea is a
condition in adults that is associated with redness of the cheeks
and nose, dilated blood vessels (telangiectasias), and acne-like
bumps.
Treatment of facial telangiectasias is very successful using
current FDA approved laser therapy. Dr. Ahmed, a highly trained
laser surgeon, uses a highly versatile, safe and effective laser
system. The most common laser system used is the Cutera CoolGlide
Xeo laser. This is a light laser that has a wavelength of 1064
nanometers. This laser works so well because this wavelength of
light is highly absorbed by hemoglobin, the major component of
blood vessels.
The cool tip on the laser handpiece in addition to a topical
anesthetic minimizes any patient discomfort.
After treatment with the CoolGlide Xeo laser, there is immediate
resolution of the blood vessel. The laser works by converting
light energy into thermal energy and gradually heating the entire
blood vessel without rupturing the walls of the blood vessel, and
without causing any damage to the overlying skin. There is minimal
to no bruising There is usually some mild redness and minimal
swelling that sometimes occurs after the laser treatment. This
usually fades in 6-12 hours. Makeup can be worn immediately
following treatment.

Brown Spots
We are using the most advance laser technology systems (Medlite
C6, Harmoney, CT3) which is ideal for treating epidermal and
dermal pigmented lesions (Brown Spots). The ability to treat age
spots, solar lentigos, café-au-lait lesions, and liver spots
efficiently and effectively is a strong competitive advantage for
any aesthetic medical practice. Because of the power, versatility,
and effectiveness of our lasers systems (Medlite C6, Harmoney,
CT3), pigmented lesions can be removed quickly and easily, making
a dramatic difference in the quality of life for patients.
The different wavelength available with the our
laser systems (Medlite C6, Harmoney, CT3) is an excellent way to
treat pigmented lesions. One treatment with an EO Q-switched
Nd:YAG laser typically shows excellent clearing with very low
incidence of hypopigmentation.
If you have further questions about the treatment or our laser
systems feel free to contact us for epidermal pigment removal.

Tattoo Removal With the rising popularity of tattoos,
there has been a simultaneous rise in the number of people who
wish to have their tattoos removed. For some, tattoos represent an
impulsive decision that now may affect the rest of their lives.
For others, the tattoos from their youth are simply no longer
relevant to their lives today. Laser tattoo removal can provide a
solution. Our aesthetic medical lasers have helped many patients
remove unwanted and out-of-date tattoos. The versatile range of
laser systems (Medlite C6, Harmoney, CT3) can reliably remove dark
ink and red ink tattoos, as well as the increasingly common green
and sky blue ink. Each color can pose challenges during laser
tattoo removal if the correct wavelength is not available.
Fortunately, our lasers systems (Medlite C6, Harmoney, CT3) offer
the correct wavelengths for full-color spectrum tattoo removal. In
fact, the our laser system MedLite® C6 won the 2005
Aesthetic Trends and Technologies’ Laser & Light Choice Award
for the Best Tattoo Removal Laser.
If you would like to speak with us about
tattoo removal and the benefits of our laser systems (Medlite C6,
Harmoney, CT3) for your practice,
Our laser systems (Medlite C6, Harmoney,
CT3) represent the gold standard for tattoo removal. With multiple
wavelengths to choose from, we can use the optimum wavelength that
passes into the skin and is absorbed by a specific color ink,
customizing the treatment for each patient and each individual
tattoo. Our laser systems (Medlite C6, Harmoney, CT3) are
engineered to force energy into the target molecules at such a
high rate, they vibrate and shatter. This PhotoAcoustic effect
breaks the ink down into tiny particles, which are gradually
removed by the body’s natural filtering systems. The our laser
systems (Medlite C6, Harmoney, CT3) features PhotoAcoustic
Technology Pulse™ (PTP), harnessing up to 60 percent more power to
deliver peak energy in very narrow pulse widths even at larger
spot sizes, while maintaining patient comfort.
Professional tattoos, on average, require
six to eight or more treatments, while amateur tattoos require
four or more sessions due to the different composition of inks.
Treatments are spaced approximately four to eight weeks apart.
With the use of our laser systems (Medlite C6, Harmoney, CT3), we
often achieve greater than 95 percent fading. That’s why our laser
systems (Medlite C6, Harmoney, CT3) lasers are known worldwide as
the first choice for multi-color tattoo removal.

Botox Injection/ Soft Tissue Fillers
Botox injections are a diluted form of botulism which is injected
into facial muscles to paralyse or weaken the muscles that form
wrinkles. Botulinum toxins were first researched in the late 1960s
to treat neurological disorders. Botox was first approved in 1989
to treat eye muscle disorders (blepharospasm, uncontrollable
blinking, and strabismus, crossed eyes).
In 2000, it was approved to treat a disorder that causes severe
neck and shoulder contractions. As an unusual side effect of the
eye disorder treatment, doctors observed that Botox softened the
frown lines between the eyebrows.
Wrinkles that are caused by muscle contraction, such as frown
lines, crow's feet, forehead creases, and neck bands can be safely
and successfully treated with Botox. You will be asked to contract
the facial muscles (frowning, squinting) that affect the area to
be treated. This will help to determine the best location for the
injection. The injection is normally injected directly into the
muscle with a tiny needle.
Results are normally seen within a few days. The results generally
last 3-4 months and require occasional touch ups.

Fraxel Over the years, your skin becomes damaged by unavoidable
exposure to sun and air pollution, stress, fatigue and even by
lifestyle choices such as smoking. All of it keeps you from
looking as good on the outside as you
feel on the inside.
Fraxel® Laser Treatment is designed to target aging and damaged
skin by creating microscopic "wounds" within the targeted areas
that penetrate well beneath the skin's outermost layer. In this
way, Fraxel® Laser treatments trigger the body's own natural
production of new collagen and skin cells. And because Fraxel®
Laser Treatment combines the impact of ablative lasers with the
gentleness of non-ablative lasers, healing occurs so quickly that
there is very little downtime for patients.
After several years of studies and mounting evidence of the Fraxel®
Laser's safety and effectiveness, the FDA has cleared this unique
new laser to treat the following conditions:
Acne Scars
Age Spots/Brown Spots
Melasma (Mask of Pregnancy)
Wrinkles Around The Eyes
Fraxel Treatment is a safe, non-invasive procedure that allows you
to rediscover the fresh, healthy skin of your youth.
Benefits of Fraxel Treatment
Improve texture tone and pore size
Erase unwanted brown spots
Smooth wrinkles around the eyes and acne scars
Rejuvenate your neck, chest and hands

Non Ablative Procedures, Scar, Acne scar reduction,
Stretchmarks, wrinkle and skin resurfacing. Non-ablative skin resurfacing - including wrinkle and acne
scar reduction - is a gentler alternative to ablative laser
treatments, with no patient downtime and a low risk of
complications for all skin types. As a gentler alternative to
ablative laser treatments, this therapy offers many benefits over
traditional resurfacing methods. The 1064 nm infrared wavelength
of the MedLite® C6 laser is becoming the method of
choice for all skin types. Patients and doctors rave about the
results including improved skin tone, smoother texture and reduced
wrinkles.
The
Safety and Reliability of Aesthetic Medical Laser
Systems (Medlite C6, Harmoney, CoolTouch
CT3).
With
our (Medlite C6, Harmoney, CT3) aesthetic medical
lasers, there is little risk of pigmentary changes, burns, or
scarring. These world-class lasers represent the next generation
of Q-switched engineering and utilize PhotoAcoustic technology to
provide patients with a more refreshed appearance, even skin tone,
a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, smoother texture, and a
decrease in pore size. Physicians nationwide are talking about
this “PhotoAcoustic rejuvenation” effect as one of the most
exciting aspects of their patient offerings.
In less than five treatment sessions, patients experienced
quantifiable improvement of surface topography and skin tone. Note
the higher amount of variations between the base line (more
mottled), with the smoother texture (more evenly textured) in the
post-treatment picture.
Benefits of Non-Ablative Wrinkle and Acne
Scar Reduction
Dr. Ahmed offers excellent versatility and provides patients
with the advance tools for a competitive advantage over other
practices. Non-ablative laser treatments have become popular
because they produce similar skin resurfacing results as some
aggressive laser peels, but with little to no healing time. Dr.
Ahmed use a 1064 nm wavelength, an infrared wavelength
clinically shown to safely penetrate the dermis and stimulate the
tissue, causing remodeling and building of collagen. As a result,
physicians are able to treat the papillary dermis without removing
(or ablating) layers of the dermis.
Dr. Ahmed's non-ablative
skin resurfacing therapies can:
Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
Reduce/improve acne scars
Remove brown spots
Reduce uneven skin color
Improve crow’s feet
Smooth smoker’s lines around the mouth
Dr. Ahmed utilize an electro-optic (EO)
Q-switch that acts as a high-speed shutter, producing short pulse
widths at peak power. The result is a PhotoAcoustic effect to the
molecules in the dermis, nanosecond pulses that deliver maximum
energy output safely and efficiently. Dr. Ahmed uses PhotoAcoustic
Technology Pulse™ harnesses up to 60 percent more power and
delivers very narrow pulse widths of high energy, even at larger
spot sizes.

Vitiligo develops as white
spots in the skin that vary in size and location. The spots
occur when melanocytes are destroyed and melanin can no longer
be produced. Melanocytes normally occur throughout the skin,
and in the hair follicles, mouth, eyes, and some parts of the
central nervous system. With vitiligo,
pigment cells can be lost in any of these areas.
Vitiligo affects at least
1% of the population. About half of the people who develop
this skin disorder experience some pigment loss before the age
of 20, and about one third of all Vitiligo patients say that
other family members also have the condition.
Vitiligo is a of form of
leukoderma, which is a general term that means white skin.
Severe trauma, like a burn, can also destroy pigment cells
resulting in leukoderma. Stretch marks, acne scars,
post-surgical and traumatic scars can also produce a similar
loss of pigment. Until recently the only treatments available
included UV phototherapy and topical or injected
corticosteroids. And while none of these worked very well,
there were some forms of leukoderma for which there was no
known method of repigmentation.
Why Harmony™ is
a good choice
Harmony™ is the first
multi-application phototherapy system to include a UVB source
for the treatment of leukoderma, including vitiligo.
Harmony's UVB light source
produces short pulses of 295 - 350 nm light, which has been
demonstrated to successfully treat leukoderma, including
vitiligo.
Like traditional UV
phototherapy, competitive broadband UVB light sources require
patients to expose both affected and healthy tissue to
ultraviolet light. Alma Lasers™ Harmony™ system
targets only the affected area, minimizing the risk of injury
to surrounding tissue.
And unlike narrowband
308-nm excimer lasers, Harmony's UVB treatment head output is
40 x 16 mm, making it a much faster treatment.
